Dear Melissa,
Announcing artist Jodee Knowles
Fresh from her sellout show in Culver City Los Angeles, Perth Artist Jodee Knowles will showcase her latest works at Friends of Leon Gallery in Surry Hills Sydney.Knowles is one of the hottest emerging artists in Australia today having exhibited all over the world. Her recent show in America saw Rock Star Pink buy half of Jodee’s collection. Pink was so excited by her new purchases she featured the works in her recent video clip “Please Don’t Leave me”.
Knowles’ latest collection “In the world of things without weight” explores the themes of mood and money. Her original patterns and distinctive brush strokes work to showcase a unique and individual world. The recurring motif of crosses evident in her latest work is symbolic of the joining of time and money. Knowles’ characters are the discarded elements in ones life and are the moments which have been lost and replaced.
“Shedding one’s beauty is in part an acknowledgment of one’s own transience and is a realization that time is the fear and not death.” Knowles.
The space at Friends of Leon Gallery will be transformed a week prior to the exhibition. Jodee Knowles will spend a week painting the gallery walls, and these newly painted walls will become the surface which will showcase her 10 selected new works.
Opening Night:
Thursday the 25th of February from 6pm
Exhibition runs until the 18th of March
